Rowse Report – Northwood 12/04
On Masters Sunday 12th April, the West Middlesex scratch team took on Northwood GC in the first round of the Middlesex Rowse competition. The Rowse format is a 36 hole scratch competition played in teams of 8. The morning format is played in 4 foursomes, whilst the afternoon session is played as 8 singles matches, with 1pt being awarded for a win and 1/2 a point for a draw.
With the sun shining, the course in excellent condition and the Masters in the air, all matches were played in good spirit, with NGC winning the session 3-1. TJ Danee and Mike Power managed to grab a point with a 4&2 win to make the afternoon all to play for.
The singles were competitively contested with matches going down to the wire on the 18th green. NGC ended up winning the singles 4.5 to 3.5 to win the fixture 7.5-4.5.
Special mention to Dan Hewlett winning 3&2, Gary Carter winning 4&2, TJ Danee winning 1up and Ryan Matenchuk grabbing a great half on the 18th green. Many thanks for all players who represented the club, those mentioned above and Shaun Hearmon, Melu Condurat and Jags Sangha.
